Evaluation Schema And Assesment Policy

New Education Policy 2020 has clearly stated that there should be no hard separation between curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular or academic and vocational/physical education/art etc. The mainstreaming of all forms of learning and skills will integrate not just the hands-on skilling component but also the theoretical knowledge, attitudes and mindsets, and soft skills. Students are assessed on both Scholastic and Co-Scholastic areas.

Attendance & Leave Rules

  • 1. According to CBSE norms 75% attendance in both the terms is compulsory for all students to be eligible to take the Final/Board examination and promotion to the next higher grade.
  • 2. Students of classes X and XII who remain absent, will be fined at the rate of Rs 5 per day.
  • 3. Students who are on medical leave during normal or examination days should submit a Medical Certificate to the Examination Incharge. No weightage will be given in this regard.
  • 4. Half day leave will not be considered except on medical ground or an emergency.
  • 5. Students feeling unwell should better stay back home instead of coming to school and then seeking permission to leave before the school is over.
  • 6. No parents will be permitted to take their wards home during regular classes.

Promotion Policy

  • 1.Appearance in assessments and examinations is compulsory.
  • Students are assessed on both Scholastic and Co-Scholastic areas.
  • Students of Classes IX and XI who score 33% and above in all subjects will only qualify for promotion to class X and XII respectively.
  • Marks of project work and practical work will not be added to promote the student in next class. It is compulsory to get pass marks in theory and practical separately in class XI.
  • In Class IX and XI, compartment will be given only in one subject. If a student fails in two subjects, he/she will not be promoted to the next higher class.
  • To qualify in a subject under scholastic areas, a candidate must obtain a minimum 33% of 20 marks in internal assessment (periodic tests, notebook submission & subject enrichment activities) and 33% marks in written exam.
  • Poor performance will entail denial of promotion to further classes.
  • If a student fails, he/she will be considered to repeat just once. If he fails twice, he will not be allowed to continue his studies in the school.

IX and X

  • All students (whether opting for Advanced or not) will appear in a common final examination(Board in class X/ school-based annual examination in Class IX of 80 marks, 3 hours). In addition, students opting for the Advanced level will take an additional examination of 25 marks (1 hour) at a higher level, based on the prescribed content.
  • Thus, the examination in Mathematics and Science will be offered at two levels—Standard and Advanced at class IX (2026-27 onwards) and Mathematics Advanced and Science Advanced at class X (2027-28 onwards). Students can choose none/one/both subject/s at viz., Advanced Level, (none; Maths Advanced/Science Advanced; Maths Advanced and Science Advanced) .
  • A candidate securing 50 % and above marks for the optional Advanced Examination shall have the following recorded in the marksheet: The Advanced Level has been successfully cleared. (This text is tentative and may vary). However, the marks obtained in the Advanced Examination shall not be added to the overall aggregate or total score. In case a candidate secures less than the prescribed criteria, no reference to the Advanced Level shall be reflected in the marksheet.
  • This two-level structure will not apply to the internal assessments of 20 marks in Mathematics and Science conducted at the school level in Class X.
  • From the academic session 2026–27, the scheme of two-levels , i.e. Mathematics Basic and Mathematics Standard examination, will be discontinued. However, students of Class-X in 2026–27 will only continue under the existing scheme and may opt for Mathematics Basic, as applicable for the academic year 2025-26.
  • If a student fails in any one of the three compulsory subjects (i.e., Science, Mathematics and Social Science) and passes in the optional subject (if offered as VIth optional subject), then that subject will be replaced by the optional subject and the result of Class X Board examination will be computed accordingly provided that students.
  • Also, if a student studies three compulsory subjects (i.e., Science, Mathematics and Social Science) and also chooses to study a Skill subject (offered as sixth optional subject), then the aggregate of best five including two languages and the best three subjects (from subject 3, 4, 5 & 6, including Skill subject) can be considered for calculation of percentage (by the school).

XI and XII

  • If a student has taken 6th subjects, and if he/she fails in any one of first five subjects, the same will be replaced by the 6th subject provided the candidate satisfies the scheme of studies i.e., after replacement either Hindi or English remains as one of the main five subjects.
  • Candidates who take 6/7 subjects and pass in all 6/7 subjects, the percentage is to be calculated according to the norms of college/institution in which the candidate is seeking admission.

Skill Subjects

  • The board is offering 22 skill subjects at the secondary level and 43 skill subjects as an additional sixth subject at the senior secondary level to upgrade the skills and proficiency of the young generation and also to provide them awareness to explore various career options.
  • At the secondary level, a skill subject may be offered as an additional subject along with the existing five compulsory subjects.
  • The board has decided to offer students the flexibility of making a vocational choice of a short duration module of 12 hours at a stage in their early academic career, either at class VI, VII or VIII.
  • It would give students the necessary orientation early on so that they are able to make better choices at a later stage. This flexibility will keep multiple career possibilities open for each student.
